Winter chills 02 Jun 09
How cold is it! Time to pull out the old beanies, trackies and ugg boots. Coffee and Hot Chocolate consumption goes up. Out come the oats with brown sugar and down goes the water and air temperature. Welcome to winter people.
With a little bit of luck we will get some all time swells in the next few months. Autumn this year was unbelievable. Hopefully winter is even better! The past week has been very ordinary, so to keep your hopes high, half the snapshow this week are images from the last two winters in and around Sydney's Northern Beaches.
When the weather is average and the winds are wild, there is another way to keep yourself amped. Carveboarding. "There's nothing on the street that so closely emulates the feeling and 'stoke' of surfing or snowboarding. With one of our boards and a little imagination, there are 6-8 foot glassy sets or a couple of feet of fresh powder right at your door." Barton Lynch (World Champion '88) says "Carveboards are the ultimate training tool for surfers and snowboarders." Jump onto the website now for more info and check out some images of these boards in action in this weeks snapshow.
A lot of you will be going away for the long weekend. Surf trip up or down the coast or possibly hitting the Aussie snow fields for the opening of the season? Not going away, then rug up and get down to Manly Beach for some fun at 'The Snowy - Winter Surfing Festival' presented by Global Surf Industries. 12 Divisions Including Longboard, Fish, Stand Up Paddle & Tandem competitions.
Nothing too special on the horizon for surfers this week, hopefully you find a little something to get your ride on,
Have a safe and warm long weekend.
Cheers,
Alex
