I know you're looking at that poor dead whale in the first picture and thinking. I don't see summer, I see a massive dead whale. Well it's heating up out there and although Summer is still a little way off, it's a great day to get to the beach!

Now about the whale. Most of you would have heard about or even seen the poor whale which washed up dead in Newport's ocean pool two months ago. As much as it was sad it was pretty damn interesting. What are the chances? Of our entire coastline the whale came to a rest in an ocean pool! Crazy! I got down there and tried to capture something a little different to the other million photographs of the event.

Now about the waves... How bad has it been! Bit of a let down for the entire start of Spring, but the waves will come again, that's the beauty of it. Smiley face.

Now the old Bluesnapper email has become a bit of a rarity these days hasn't it. I am sorry people. This is to blame - my other life as a wedding photographer. Not to mention my own wedding which is happening in 3 weeks! ahhhhh! Can't wait

Update, Swells continued to ease, 2ft open beaches,3ft sets S facing as clouds start to gather, winds tending mod SW. Morning Report: Waves 2-4ft Swell S @9 secs,winds W-SW 7-21 knots Another day of nice south swell, size looks to eased a touch but still 2-3 ft open beaches and 4 ft sets at S facing, winds light offshore early and looking inviting on a dropping tide, Through the day winds again edging SW easing into evening, enjoy the day winters not far away. ,

Cloud developing,Winds: Westerly 15 to 25 knots turning south to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon. Seas: 1 to 2 metres, decreasing below 1.5 metres by early evening. Swell: Southerly 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1 to 1.5 metres around dawn.
